Where an engagement would benefit from a specialist the practice does not hold — an accredited security assessor, a solicitor for contract terms, a developer to build what has been designed — that is stated in the proposal rather than absorbed, and you engage them directly rather than through us at a margin.

We take no commission, referral fee or reseller margin from any supplier, and we do not tender for the work our own reports recommend. If a recommendation would benefit us financially beyond our fee, the recommendation is wrong or the fee is dishonest — so we removed the possibility rather than manage it.
Every engagement begins with a proposal setting out the questions to be answered, the access required, the people to be interviewed, the deliverables and the fee. Scope that grows is re-quoted in writing. Nothing chargeable happens before you have accepted a document.
We ask for read-only access wherever it will do, through accounts you own and can revoke, for the duration of the engagement only. Where a document or a screen-share would answer the question instead of an account, we ask for that. Data is handled under the terms set out in our privacy notice.
Reports are written to be read by the person signing the decision, not to demonstrate expertise. Conclusions carry their reasoning, so a reader can disagree with one finding without having to discard the document — and so that a technical supplier can check our working.
What we see during an engagement stays inside it. No client is named, quoted or described on this site or in a proposal to anyone else without written permission — which is why there are no case studies here. A non-disclosure agreement is signed whenever you would like one, and welcomed.
If a review is not warranted, if the work belongs to a different discipline, or if the answer is that the existing arrangement is sound, we say so — at the scoping call if possible, and in the report if it only becomes clear later. An adviser who never concludes “do nothing” is not advising.
